Obituary of Cathy L. Huntington
Cathy L. Swan Huntington, 54, of 410 Superior St. formerly of Ralph Ave. Falconer, left this Earth to join her Savior Jesus Christ at 8:31 a.m. Friday (November 26, 2010) in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital.
A lifelong area resident she was born March 28, 1956 in Jamestown, NY the daughter of Vernis and Leonore E. Thoren Swan.
In previous years she had worked with the family at the former Briggs Store, the former 7 Eleven Store and the Swan's Country Market in Gerry.
She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she enjoyed singing in "A New Song" church choir. She was a member of WELCA, and Esther Circle and in earlier days, the Kirk Singers. She enjoyed her daily bible reading and bible studying. She also served as a mentor and Board Member for the Compeer Chautauqua Program.
She will be remembered as one who found enjoyment in children, for her sense of humor and for her kindness and generosity towards others. She enjoyed observing and preserving family history and traditions. She also loved dancing, Karaoke, boating on the lake, nature, watching and participating in different sports whenever she was able.
Surviving are her mother of Jamestown, a daughter Sherilyn (Rick) Van Dam of Muskegon, MI, granddaughter Melissa (David) Brosco, a great granddaughter Ella Mae Brosco all of Muskegon, MI, three brothers Dennis (Deborah) Swan, Gregory (Cindy) Swan all of Lakewood, John D. Swan of Ashville and also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Vern Swan and by her husband Ronald Huntington.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. The Reverand Alison L. Leitzel, pastor will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. today in the Lind Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Western New York Kidney Association, Compeer Chautauqua or to the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
