Obituary of Raymond C. Anderson
Raymond C. Anderson, 89, formerly of 85 Frederick Blvd. WE, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (December 1, 2010) at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Jamestown on August 9, 1921, a son of the late Leonard and Anna Young Anderson, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1939.
Ray was a World War II veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving in 457th Bomb Group Heavy Bomber Squadron. He was the recipient of six Bronze Stars.
He had been employed by the former Dahlstrom Manufacturing in Jamestown for 20 years, retiring as a lead man, and for 10 years worked in sales for Reynolds Aluminum in Raleigh, NC.
He had formerly belonged to Lakewood United Methodist Church and the Vikings Lodge and was a life member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, where he had served as recording secretary.
Ray is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy C. Gustafson whom he married November 2, 1946; two daughters, Lynette Nagel of Lakewood and Marcia (Gary) Kent of Jamestown; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Justin) Devereaux and Paul (Cassie) Taber, both of Lakewood; two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Austin Devereaux of Lakewood; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert E. and Kenneth L. Anderson; and three sisters, Doris Juul, Mildred Tanner and Beatrice Anderson.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Saturday.
