Obituary of Charles E. Johnson
Charles E. "Chuck" Johnson, 76, of 2255 Lennox St. in Jamestown, passed away at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010 in his home surrounded by family.
Chuck was born October 11, 1934 in Jamestown, a son of the late Harold and Bernice Beebe Johnson. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and later served in the National Guard Company E.
Chuck had been plant manager for Lake County Dairy for many years. Prior to retirement, he and his wife, Martha, moved to Madisonville, KY where he served as plant manager of Golden Rod Dairy for 18 years. They returned to Jamestown following his retirement in 2004.
He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Chuck had a natural mechanical aptitude and could fix anything. He also demonstrated one of his many talents through wood crafting. Recreationally, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
His main pride and joy was loving and spending time with his family. Chuck was always sure to leave room in his enormous heart for his loving pets as well.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Martha Vrusho Johnson, whom he married December 3, 1955; two daughters, Michelle (Steve) Domenici of Wilmington, DE and Janelle Weilacher of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Taylor and Jonathan Domenici of Wilmington, Brittany Weilacher of Rochester, NY and Christopher Weilacher of Jamestown; two sisters, Nancy Hitchcock of Jamestown and Clarice Milner of Orlando, FL; and two brothers, Gordon Johnson of Cordele, GA and David B. Johnson of Jamestown.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11th in St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Eric M. Williams will officiate. Entombment will be in the St. Luke's Church Columbarium.
Friends will be received in the Church Undercroft following the service Saturday.
