Obituary of Joseph D. Crouch

Joseph D. Crouch Jamestown, NY - Joseph D. Crouch, 86, of Jamestown, died early Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at the WCA Hospital in Jamestown. He was born August 9, 1924, in Ledyard, Connecticut, the son of Chauncey Chester Crouch and Lucy Viola Crouch. He attended Lambtown Elementary School in Ledyard, the Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton, Connecticut, and the Zion Bible Institute in Providence, Rhode Island. He married Bernice Mae Poreda on November 1, 1952. He was predeceased by five sisters, Elizabeth Crouch, Augusta Stoll, Marjorie Shafer, Lila Crouch and Edith Pyle; and three brothers, Sidney, John and Stephen Crouch. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Louise Watrous Crouch, of Oregon; a daughter, Linda Certo and her husband, Gregory Certo, of Jamestown; a son, Joseph Crouch, Jr., of Ashville; a granddaughter, Claire Certo, and a grandson, Nicholas Certo, both of Jamestown. Joseph worked as a carpenter, and also shared a wholesale landscape products business with his brother, John, in Connecticut and the New England area. After retiring, he joined his family in Jamestown, NY, in 1995. Arrangements are made by the Lind Funeral Home, 805 West Third Street, Jamestown. There are no calling hours. The funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
