Obituary of Jean W. Auge
Jean W. Auge, 81, of 227 Church St. Panama, NY passed away unexpectedly at 10:52 p.m. Monday (December 6, 2010) in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital.
A lifelong area resident she was born March 15, 1929 in Niobe, NY a daughter of the late Donald E. and Gladys Ayling Willis.
She was a graduate of Panama Central School and had attended Jamestown Business College.
Before her retirement, she was employed as a school bus driver for the Panama Central School System for 30 years. In earlier years she had worked at the former Grants Department Store in Jamestown.
Jean was a longtime active member of the Niobe Baptist Church and the Harmony Historical Society. She also served on the Grant Cemetery Board for several years.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved quilting and was an avid bowler. She was also a loving caregiver for several members of her family throughout the years.
Surviving are three daughters Sue (George) Staley of Avon, NY, Teresa (Lee) Everett of Morehead City, NC, Jane (Bob) James of Bethel, NC, six grandchildren Tyrel (Traci) Staley of Rochester, NY, Amber (Bill) Coffey of Linwood, NY, Kristin and Laura Everett of Morehead, NC, David (Kelly) Pittman and Robert Pittman of Bethel, NC, four great grandchildren Thomas, Hannah and Faith Staley, Maverick Coffey and also survived by several brother in laws, sister in laws as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jules L. Auge whom she married December 31, 1950 and who died January 13, 2001.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Kevin Hadley, pastor of the Niobe Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery, Niobe, NY.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.
