Obituary of Ilene A. Robertson
Ilene A. "Cookie" Robertson, 86, of 16 Myers Ave., died at 5:54 p.m. Friday (December 17, 2010) in the emergency room of WCA Hospital.
She was the widow of William Robertson, whom she married January 31, 1948 and who died September 10, 2000.
Ilene was born January 22, 1924 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Axel and Beda Johanson Anderson, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1941.
For 25 years she had been employed by the Jamestown School District Library Center, retiring in 1990. She had previously worked for the former Art Metal Corp. and Dahlstrom Manufacturing Co.
In earlier years, Ilene had been an active member of the PTA at Charles Street School. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Art Metal Ladies group, the Jabbering Jills. She also looked forward to spending time with her dear friends and fellow "Gray Haired Ladies", Annie, Marion and Kathy.
Ilene had an audience with the King of Norway following the loss of her brother, Robert, during World War II.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Falconer.
A wonderful cook, Ilene will always be remembered for the family dinners she prepared each and every Sunday.
Surviving is a daughter, Nancy (Aldo) Amoroso of Jamestown; three sons: David Robertson of Eight Mile, AL and John (Cheryl) Robertson and Jim (Destiny Swanson) Robertson, both of Jamestown; eleven grandchildren: Ryan (Melissa) Robertson, Jami (Scott) Widrig, Mark, Scott, Andrew, William and Ryan Robertson, and Rachel and Anthony Amoroso, all of Jamestown, Mike (Taryn) Robertson of Orchard Park, NY and Kathy Robertson of N. Olmstead, OH; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert Anderson.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
