Obituary of Bessie J. Brandel

Bessie J. Brandel, 89, formerly of Loyalton of Lakewood, 19 Hern Ave. Lakewood, NY and 123 Catlin Ave. Jamestown died at 8:30 a.m. Monday (December 27, 2010) in the Heritage Green Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident she was born April 1, 1921 in Falconer, NY a daughter of the late Floyd and Mattie Williams Lane. She was a 1939 graduate of Jamestown High School and before her retirement in 1981, was employed for 25 years as an inspector for the Marlin Rockwell Corporation. In earlier years she had worked for the Weber-Knapp Company and the former Jamestown Plywood Corporation. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for over 60 years where she taught Sunday school for many years. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife and enjoyed her relationships with her nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Surviving are her nephews Msgr. Frank Peter Lane, Daniel Lane and nieces Jeanine Call, Joanne Carnes and Jane Pangrazio as well as many great nieces and great nephews and her caregiver Patty Keifer. She was preceded in death by her first husband Ralph Gary Peterson whom she married in 1941 and who died in 1963, her second husband Frank D. Brandel whom she married October 22, 1977 and who died December 19, 2004, a brother Frank W. Lane and a sister Elizabeth DeYoung. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. William Lindsay, former pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Msgr. Frank Peter Lane, her nephew will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral home.
