Obituary of Jean E. Johnson

Jean Elizabeth Johnson, 82, of 1 Victor Ave., Warren, PA and Bradenton, FL, passed away at 2:05 p.m. Saturday (January 8, 2011) in the Hospice House of Warren County, Quaker Hill Rd. Warren, PA. A Warren area resident since 1955, she was born April 1, 1928 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Charles O. and Eva C. Charles Ruden. In earlier years, while her children attended school, she served as a Girl Scout Leader and a Boy Scout Den Mother. She was a member of the Welcome Wagon in Warren, PA as well as the Newcomers Club and the 5th Wheel Club. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Warren YWCA and was a member of the Chautauqua Lake Power Boat Club Auxiliary. Jean always enjoyed traveling in their motor home which she and Warren drove from coast to coast and to Mexico. As an avid boater, she traveled with her husband on their boat to New York, Canada, Florida and the Caribbean. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved to spend time sewing and quilting. She was a member of the American Sewing Guild of Bradenton, FL where she made many items for the Hospice and Preemies of Bradenton, FL. She was also a self taught seamstress and made many beautiful pieces of clothing for family and friends. She also loved the companionship of her two dogs Button and Bow. Surviving are her children Susan (Stephen) Taraska, Peggy Johnson both of Warren, PA, Charles "Dusty" (Kolette) Johnson of Russell, PA, four grandchildren Tiffany Taraska, Travis Taraska, Amanda Anderson, Charlette Hecei all of Warren, PA, four great grandchildren Ryan Taraska, Connor Hecei, Kadence and Rocky Anderson and a sister Carolyn Jacobson of Warren, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren R. Johnson whom she married December 20, 1946 and who died March 27, 2010 and a sister Lois Marie Ruden who died May 5, 1996. The family would like to invite friends and relatives to join together with them for a celebration of Jean's life on Sunday, January 16, 2011, from 2-5 p.m. at the Conewango Club, 201 Market St., Warren, PA. Visitation and service will not be observed.
