Obituary of Robert M. Ruby

Robert M. Ruby, 81, of 18 Oakland Hills Place, Rotonda West, Fla., formerly of Lakewood, NY, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, January 28, 2011. He was the husband of Marian Decker Ruby whom he married September 7, 1951. Robert was born September 11, 1929 in New Albany, IN, a son of the late Walter H. and Lucille Crabb Ruby. Prior to retirement, he had been Plant Manager/Superintendent of Crawford Furniture in New Bethlehem, Pa. and Maddox Table Co. in Jamestown for 35 years. While in Pennsylvania, he had been instrumental in founding the Hawthorne Elementary School, Hawthorne Fire Company and the Hawthorne Water Authority. Robert loved to spend his free time fishing, hunting and gardening. In addition to his wife of Florida, surviving are four sons: Robert Michael Ruby of Rochester, NY, Walter Kevin Ruby of Mayport, Pa., Timothy Scott (Vickie) Ruby of Jamestown, NY and Patrick Craig (Donna) Ruby of New Bethlehem, Pa.; a daughter, Rebecca Christine (Steve) Flagg of Camden, Ark.; ten grandchildren and one great-grandson; and a brother, Gerry (Dot) Ruby of Lakewood, NY and sister, Alecia (Clyde) Ernst of Johnstown, NY. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Edward Ruby and a sister, Carolyn Sue Pedric. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Alison L. Leitzel will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
