Obituary of Gordon J. Bastian
Gordon J. Bastian, 81, of 523 Winsor St Jamestown, died Wednesday (February 2, 2011) in WCA Hospital.
He was born November 9, 1929 in Findley Lake, NY the son of the late Erving and Alyce Shures Bastian.
Gordon was a 1948 graduate of Falconer High School and attended Jamestown Community College. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. From 1952 until his retirement in 1986, he was employed in Production Control at Blackstone Corp. Gordon was chairman of the Jaycees Farmers Committee; an original member and secretary of the Carroll Masonic Lodge in Frewsburg; and he coached Babe Ruth Baseball. He was a former member of the Vikings and Ira Lou Spring Post American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Anderson Bastian; his children, Lisa (William Spencer) Bastian-Spencer; Andrew (Gen) Bastian; Jennifer Bastian (fianc Marcus Stendahl) all of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Anna Bastian of Rochester; Korey Bastian, Lacey Johnson, Drake Johnson, all of Jamestown; a brother, Robert "Bob" Bastian of Dalton, GA; and two sisters, Lois Taylor, and Joan Smith both of Jamestown. The family is grateful for the friendship and loyalty of Jim Neal.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jay Rolfe Bastian; a sister, Margaret Bastian; and seven brothers, Lloyd, Harold, Lawrence, Lyle, Ernest, Earl, and Clyde Bastian.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday in the funeral home.
