Obituary of June P. Carpenter

June P. Becker Carpenter, 78, of 325 Baker St. Jamestown, died at 10:20 a.m. Friday (February 4, 2011) in her home. She was born June 17, 1932 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Gustave Ewald "Bushey" and Lucia Kooman Johnson. June was a 1950 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1978 graduate of the Jamestown Community College Nursing program. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the former Jamestown General Hospital, Lutheran Social Services, and retired from Heritage Green Nursing Facility in 1998. June was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, and was a former member of Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the mothers club, and couples club. She loved gardening and was a huge Lucille Ball fan. Surviving are her husband, Algy S. "Skip" Carpenter whom she married July 14, 1984; her children, Gregory (Patricia) Becker of Jamestown; Susan (John) Penna of Jamestown; Sandra (Andrew) Usher of Hinsdale, IL; Timothy (Laurie) Becker of Falconer; nine grandchildren, Daniel (Heather) Becker of Jamestown; Kelly (Matt) Skalos of Corry, PA; Lynnsey Penna of Murrieta, CA; Rachel Penna of Chicago, IL; Megan, Eleanor, Katherine Usher, all of Hinsdale, IL; Carolyn and Elizabeth Becker, both of Falconer; four great grandchildren; her step children, Algy (Eileen) Carpenter Jr. of Tampa, FL; Dina (Rory) Holmberg of Jamestown; and her step grandchildren, Jamie Reynolds, Jodee Hallett, Cameron and Kelly Carpenter. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wallace L. Becker whom she married March 31, 1951 and who died June 7, 1972. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
