Obituary of Susan A. Sheffield

Susan A. Sheffield, 64, of 6613 Stevens Road, Panama, died unexpectedly Sunday February 6, 2011 in WCA Hospital. She was born April 29, 1946 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Charles and Eva Fornell Pryde. She graduated from Southwestern Central School and Jamestown Business College. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Community Bank as head teller in Jamestown and earlier had worked for Key Bank in Clymer and Empire Bank. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star Mt Sinai-Mecca and Acacia Chapters. She was also a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church and was a volunteer at WCA Hospital. She was a collector of various things, but was especially fond of cobalt blue glass and bunnies. She will be missed by her domestic pets and the wildlife she cared for. She enjoyed being on Facebook and tending her farm in Farmville. Surviving are her companion of 35 years Charles McDonnell, with whom she made her home, a son Michael Robert Sheffield of Sandpoint, ID, a brother Charles David Pryde, Jr. of White Plains, MD, nieces and nephews Pam VanArsdale of Frewsburg, Troy McCreary of Jamestown Amanda Pryde of Fredrick, MD, Shannon Pryde of Hughesville, MD and Nicholas Pryde of White Plain, MD. and her companion Charles' sister, Barbara Trisket and her husband Edward of Niobe and their children, Amy Caldwell of Frewsburg, Scott Trisket and Amanda Kolstee, of N. Clymer. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters Betsy Pryde and Roberta Pryde McCreary. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour prior to the service Thursday in the funeral home. An Order of Eastern Star Memorial Service will be led at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
