Obituary of Lois W. Sandberg

Lois W. Sandberg, 81, of 155 Merlin Avenue, West Ellicott, formerly of Frewsburg, died Sunday February 27, 2011, in Christus Spahn Hospital, Corpus Christi, TX. She was born December 10, 1929, in Cortland, NY, a daughter of the late Dr. William and Helen Lytle Wall. She was a 1947 graduate of Cortland High School, received a bachelor's degree from College at Wooster, OH and an associate's degree in nursing from Niagara Community College. Prior to her retirement in 1986, she was employed by WCA Hospital as a registered nurse for 12 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frewsburg and a former member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a life member of the YWCA, Lockport, NY. While in Texas she attended St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Kingsville. She was an avid volunteer for many causes including American Red Cross, Humane Society, Jamestown Audubon Society and her churches. Surviving are her husband H. Alan Sandberg, whom she married May 22, 1981; three children James May of Lockport, NY, William May of Sutton, MA and Jennifer Amatulli of Brewster, NY; four step sons James, Christopher and Scott Sandberg all of Jamestown and D. Stacy Sandberg of Jamestown; fifteen grandchildren and a brother Edward Wall of St. Charles, MO. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Fredrick Wall in 1998 and a step son Rowley Sandberg in 2002. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Zion Lutheran Church, Frewsburg. Rev. Alan Anderson, pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
