Obituary of Robert M. Kent

Robert M. Kent, Sr. 86, of 2145 Shadyside Rd. Lakewood, NY passed away at 7:55 p.m. Sunday (March 6, 2011) in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident he was born February 28, 1925 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Roy W. and Sadie Parsons Kent. Before his retirement, he was employed as a welder for the former Jamestown Metal Corporation, where he worked for over 20 years. He was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church, the Jamestown Moose Lodge, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Lakewood Fire Department. He will be remembered as an avid sportsman, enjoying all kinds of sporting events. He really enjoyed watching his son's and his grandchildren participate in their individual sports. In earlier years he played softball for the Jamestown Moose Lodge. He loved the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Surviving are his wife of 63 years the former Glendine Curtis whom he married February 5, 1948, four son's Charles W. (Jeanne) Kent, Robert M. "Yogi" (Sue) Kent, Jr. both of Jamestown, Richard C. Kent of Russell, PA, Roger R. Kent of Lakewood, four grandchildren Scott C. Kent of Orlando, FL, Patrick J. Kent of Falconer, Amy S. (David) Lee, Erik M. Kent both of Raleigh, NC, a great grandson Jonathan Kent of Falconer, a sister Pearl Evanczik of Frewsburg as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Roy, Harrison and Earl Kent, a nephew Daniel Kent and a niece Jeannette DeJesus. The funeral will held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. John Saraka, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
