Obituary of Ethel H. Anderson

Ethel H. Anderson, 97, formerly of 1742 Forest Avenue Extension and 9 Crane Street, died Monday March 7, 2011, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. A lifelong area resident, she was born February 21, 1914, in Jamestown, a daughter of John and Ethel Tanfield Harford. She had worked as a child care provider and housekeeper for several local families. She was a member of Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ and took part in its visitation ministry, Bethany Group and Scrooby Club. She was also a member of AARP and a volunteer at St. Susan Center. Surviving are two children David L. (Michele) Anderson of Fillmore, CA, and Julie (Nicholas) Rodriguez of Jamestown; eight grandchildren, Raphael Ben David, Roxanne Smith, Olivia Bennett, Clint Anderson, Christopher Anderson, Dustin Anderson, Nichole Rodriguez and Dominick Rodriguez; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; several foster grandchildren, foster great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her Heritage Park family including roommate Phyllis Alleman. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband G. LeRoy Anderson, whom she married August 30, 1934 and who died January 30, 2008, a brother Stanley Harford and a sister Esther Anderson. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Ned Lindstrom, great nephew, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
