Obituary of Wallace T. Jackson
Wallace T. Jackson, 80, of 218 Spruce Street, Lakewood, died Saturday March 19, 2011, in WCA Hospital.
He was born October 16, 1930, in Jamestown, a son of Hugo and Ingeborg Peterson Jackson.
He was a Korean War veteran of the US Army serving from 1951-52.
Prior to his retirement he was employed by Innovative Tool and Machine and earlier had worked as a car salesman for several area dealers including Berglund Chevrolet and Stateside Motors.
He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Der Kobblers and Lake Erie Bonsai Society.
Wally was a car nut. Rebuilding cars and hotrods was his hobby and his life. His award winning classic automobile restorations, especially Chevrolets, was very well known. The garage was his favorite place to be. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, Sr.
Surviving are a son Bruce (Kay) Jackson of Lakewood; a daughter SuzAnne Kelsey of Lakewood; four grandchildren Wyatt and Elliott Jackson, Justin Hall and John Kelsey, three nieces Sandy Humphreys of Ohio, Brenda Cline of North Carolina and Nancy Phillips of Erie and a nephew Robert Jackson of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Elaine Johnson, whom he married September 9, 1952 and who died October 10, 2006 and a brother Russell Jackson.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
