Obituary of Malcolm V. Short

Malcolm V. Short, Sr., 75, of 1629 W. Third Street, formerly of 110 Hunt Avenue, died Saturday March 19, 2011, in WCA Hospital. He was born June 13, 1935, in Kennedy, NY, a son of the late James and Florence Walker Short. He attended Falconer Schools and served in the US Army from 1958-60. Prior to his retirement he was self employed owning MV Short Wholesale Auto Parts. He earlier had owned and operated a service station in Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of Salvation Army where he led Bible study and Men's Fellowship and also sang in the choir. He loved the Lord and was extremely knowledgeable in regard to the scriptures. His other passion was as a car enthusiast. Surviving are his wife the former Willa Linamen, whom he married May 2, 1958, six children Julia L. (Douglas) Short Casselman of Sherman, Mark A. (Lois) Short of Jamestown, Joan M. (Geraldo) Short Santos of Dallas, TX, Beckie L. Short of Falconer, Daniel J. Short of Jamestown and Malcolm V. "Butch" (Laurie) Short, Jr. of Panama; 23 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters Virginia Zindler of Gerry and Rosalind Bird of Jamestown and two brothers George Short and Cecil Short, both of Falconer. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Joyce Ann Short, a brother James Short, a sister Pauline Vender and a brother-in-law Richard Bird. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Salvation Army. Major Richard Best of the Salvation Army and Rev. John Gocke of Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the Salvation Army.
