Obituary of Virginia L. Kinne
Virginia L. Kinne, 97, of 45 Pennsylvania Ave., passed away after a brief illness on Saturday (March 19, 2011) at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center.
She was the widow of Herbert R. Kinne whom she married September 10, 1935 and who died February 29, 1992.
A Jamestown area resident since the age of 7, Virginia was born September 24, 1913 in McKeesport, PA, a daughter of the late Oscar E. and Agnes Fallquist Levine, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1931.
For 33 years she worked as a saleslady at the former Nord's Dress Shop until the age of 79, retiring upon the store's closing in 1993.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Virginia lived a life dedicated to physical fitness and health, exemplified by her always having walked to work throughout the years. Following retirement, she continued her daily walks with her pet dog and constant companion, Nikki. She also enjoyed baking and reading.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey H. (Cindy) Kinne and Douglas A. Kinne, both of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Kevin Kinne of Largo, FL, Steven (Michelle) Kinne of Foley AL, Jennifer (Bryan) Laplante of Schenectady, NY and Deidra (Michael) Martinez of Clarkson, NY; two great-granddaughters, Paxton Kinne of Foley and Keeley Laplante of Schenectady; and a brother, James (Charlotte) Levine of Prospect, CT.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Lindbeck and Dorothy Kelly.
A private family service will be held. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society (where Nikki was adopted), 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701. You will never regret adopting a pet.
