Obituary of Carl R. Peterson

Carl R. Peterson, Jr. 72, of Austin, TX formerly of Jamestown, NY passed away at 2:39 p.m. Monday (March 21, 2011) in the Seton Medical Center, Austin, TX. Carl moved to Texas in 2004 to be closer to his son. He was born April 21, 1938 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Carl R. and Edith Sundell Peterson, Sr. He was a 1956 graduate of Jamestown High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. Prior to his retirement he had worked as a certified public accountant for several major accounting firms and was employed as a tax accountant for the Texaco Corporation in White Plains, NY. While living in Jamestown he was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church and was active with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Following his retirement he returned to Jamestown and served as treasurer for the Holy Family Catholic School. Surviving are a son Eric R. Peterson of Austin, TX, a daughter Kristin Peterson, a grandson Elliott Peterson both of Somers, NY and a sister Kathryn Peterson of Arlington, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Holy Apostles Parish at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 - 6 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family suggests that memorials be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o Holy Apostles Parish, 508 Cherry St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
