I was so sorry to hear of your passing. My thoughts of you and Sandy bring smiles to my face. All my life that I remember, it was Sandy and Al. Yours was the first wedding in my memory. The Xmas Days spent with you playing the piano or organ for all of us, the poker games. We all seemed to congregate at your home for our family get togethers for both joyous and sad occasions. The time you and Dick drove the motorhome to Tenn so we could go and have a family reunion for the Johnston's. It was a great time and the last time we saw Uncle Sid alive. You, Sandy, Ruthie and Dick coming out to Roswell to visit Jeryl, it was soooo good to see familiar faces. You sold me my first brand new car when you were at Dibble Pontiac. I drove "Bessie" until folks in the back seat had to hold their legs up becasue the floor had rusted thru and then Lloyd drove her for a few years more. ALways with a smile on your face and a positive word, you leave behind a loving family that have had the luck of enjoying life with you and Sandy. Bless you and rest in peace. I'm sure there is very big welcoming party going on in heaven for you this weekend!

I love you grandpa- even though I miss you terribly, I know that you are finally at peace; together again with gramma....................................
You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.
-David Harkins..............................................
Rest peacefully in the arms of the lord grandpa; forever with the angels :']

Though I didn't know you, Al, as well as my husband did ...when I finally met you and Sandy ...it was a very warm feeling just as Jim had said. I know you're with Sandy now ...and I just praise God for your life ...a very gentle, kind, fun loving;enjoyed your grandchildren ....Your daughter Sheri and I became friends through the beauty salon and she still cuts my hair.
Shari, Gayle; Laurie and Allen, I know this is going to be a tough loss of two very dear people in a very short time apart from each other.
Sheri, although I've met your sisters and brother...I know you best of all and my heart and my love go out to you and the family this Friday and the in between time...with friends and family gathering close.
Sheri my special friend and "daughter" I love you and will be praying for each of you all this week. May you and Gail and Lori; Allen...and the spouses; grandchildren and all touched by this tender loss feel God's comfort as only He can give.
I will not be able to be there in person but will be in thought and spirit. I have an appointment in Erie that I must keep for my eyes.
I know we'll talk ...but in the meantime know..that I am there for you in my heart.
Your Dad is with Sandy now and I'm sure the two of them couldn't be happier... soon we'll all join together and THEN...NO MORE GOOD BYES FOREVER !!!
GOD BLESS AND LOVE,
Kathy Lawson

I remember with every visit to Uncle Al's came a golf cart ride, lots of laughs, and a big hug. He always told me "You sure are purdy." He was a great man that was loved by many and could make anybody laugh. I will miss him.

I bought a boat from Al at Smith Boys in 1988 and considered him my friend from that day on. Always a quick wit and a great smile and fun to visit with. I will miss him very much and feel blessed that I had the opportunity to have a face to face conversation with him last week, but I will not wish him back. He is now off to a better life free from his ills that he endured these past few years.
To the family I give my deepest heart felt sympathy for your lose. God bless.
