Obituary of John H. Sholin

John H. Sholin, 81, of 105 Summit Ave. Jamestown, passed away at 8:55 p.m. Saturday (April 2, 2011) in WCA Hospital after a brief illness. He was born January 11, 1930 in Jamestown the son of Adolph and Linnea Hammerstrom Sholin. He attended Jamestown schools, and served in the National Guard during WWII. Prior to retirement, he worked at Dahlstrom Mfg Co for 30 years. He then worked as a Security Guard for Bush Industries and Marlin Rockwell for 15 years. John is survived by his wife Helen Sholin, five children, David and Thomas Sholin, Carol West, all of Florida; John and Vicki Sholin of Texas; five step children, Debbie Wormley of Kentucky; Deanna Wilkinson, James Costello, Mary Nash, and Heidi Gordon, all of Jamestown; a sister, Joyce (Adam) LaBarbara of Jamestown; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Sholin; and two brothers, Holger and Reinhold Sholin. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
