Obituary of Laura I. King

Laura I. King, 94, formerly of 9 Peach St., went to be with her Lord at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday (April 6, 2011) at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. An area resident since 1945, she was born October 20, 1916, the daughter of the late Ezra T. and Edith Garrison Johnston. Laura had been a waitress for several area restaurants, including the Hotel Jamestown Crystal Ballroom. She was a lover of animals and had many pets throughout the years. Surviving is a son, David M. (Carmen) King of Jamestown and a daughter, Karen S. (Dennis) Lank of Silver Creek; a daughter-in-law, Kyoko "Katy" King of Jacksonville, NC; (8) grandchildren, (17) great-grandchildren and (3) great great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth E. King, Jr.; two grandsons, Kenneth H. King and Andy King; and two brothers, Kenneth E. Johnston and Donald J. Johnston. A memorials service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald A. Haglund will officiate. Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
