Obituary of Gloria E. Martin

Gloria Enid Martin, 84, of Jamestown, died Friday April 29, 2011, in WCA Hospital. She was born July 19, 1926 in Salamanca, a daughter of the late David Herbert and Pauline Martin. A 1945 graduate of Jamestown High School, she, as an accountant, was employed by the former Art Metal Co., and more recently the Fancher Chair Co. During her career, Gloria was active as secretary to the Jamestown Area Business and Professional Women's Club (BPW). Since retirement, Gloria resided at the Lafayette St. Hi Rise of Jamestown, where she enjoyed the company of the residents, and shared her extensive collection of both furry and porcelain cats. She is survived by a brother, John "Jack" Martin of Orchard Park; thirteen nieces and nephews, Linda Whittenhall of Jamestown; Debra Eckwahl of DeBay, FL; Steve Martin of Lakewood; Tom Martin of Akron; Donald Carver of Jamestown; Nancy Case of North Port, FL; James Carver of Cloverdale, CA; Alfred Carver of Birmingham, AL; Kathleen Carver-Cheney of New York, NY; Gordon Carver of Ponta Gorda, FL; Martin Carver of Santa Cruz, CA; David Carver of Lexington, MA; and Cheryl Dennison of Cumming, GA. Gloria was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jane Carver Crate; Paula Shannon; and a brother, Duane Martin. A Memorial Service will be held for Gloria at St. Luke's Episcopal Church Chapel, 410 N. Main St., Jamestown, NY 14701 at 11:00 AM Friday June 17, 2011.
