Obituary of Ronald M. Swanson

Ronald M. Swanson, 58, of 145 Greenhurst Village Drive died at 4:05 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011. He was born May 20, 1952 in Jamestown, a son of the late Carl O. "Kelly" and Jean E. Trummer Swanson. A graduate of Jamestown High School, he later earned his Associates Degree from the Cleveland Engineering Institute. Ron had been employed at the Carborundum Co., Blackstone Corp. and MRC Bearings as an inspector. While at Blackstone, he served as president of the United Auto Workers Union for several years. He had also operated Swanson's Tree Farm in Kiantone for many years selling Christmas trees. This business developed into a lawn care/landscaping service that Ron enjoyed greatly. He loved interaction with people. Ron will be sadly missed by his family. Surviving are two sons, Ronald M. (Marissa) Swanson II of Sacramento, CA and Chad C. Swanson of Jamestown; and two grandchildren, Cassidy and Ryder Swanson of Sacramento. He was preceded in death by his father on March 23, 2004 and mother on January 18, 2011; and a brother, Robert C. Swanson, who died May 24, 1992. The funeral will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Alison L. Leitzel will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
