Obituary of Harriett E. Mescall

Harriett E. Mescall, 77, of 145 Chandler St Jamestown, died Thursday (May 19, 2011) in WCA Hospital. She was born April 13, 1934 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Harry and Elsie Bredburg Roos. Prior to retirement, Harriett worked for the Heritage Group at Heritage Village and Heritage Green. She was a member of the Salvation Army, and was a baseball fan and enjoyed playing BINGO. Harriett loved spending time with her family and was always there to help anyone when they needed it. Surviving are three sons, John (Janet) Mescall of Celoron; Dennis (Conni) Mescall of Minnesota; Matthew Mescall of Jamestown; two daughters, Johanna Klinker of Minnesota; Melissa (Paul) Brown of Portland, NY; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Roos of Jamestown; and two half sisters. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Mescall whom she married December 28, 1954 and who died February 16, 1992; a granddaughter, Maureen Klinker; and two brothers, Ray and Robert Roos. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Major Richard Best of the Salvation Army will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 PM Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 83 South Main St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
