Obituary of Sybil J. Burch

Sybil J. Burch, 91, formerly of the Hotel Jamestown and 1758 Forest Ave. Ext. Jamestown passed away at 9:29 a.m. Sunday (May 29, 2011) in W.C.A. Hospital. An area resident for most of her life she was born September 28, 1919 in Erie, PA a daughter of the late Harry and Eva Smith Odell. In earlier years she had worked for the former Park Laundry, Gandy's Restaurant and while living at the Hotel Jamestown was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Surviving are two daughters Janet (the late Joe) Haight of Jamestown, Donna (Dennis) Graham of Kennedy, a son Dale (Linda) Franklin of St. Charles, MO, 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alfred E. Burch whom she married June 22, 1946 and who died October 14, 2010, a sister Laura Benson and Wilfred and Silvia Mae Lamere who had raised Sybil since she was 2 years old. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. William Crosby pastor of the Victory Tabernacle will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg, NY. Friends will be received from 3-5p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
