Obituary of Sandra P. Laboy

Sandra "Sandie" Peterson Laboy, 67, of 80 Eagle St. Jamestown, died at 11:00 AM Tuesday (May 31, 2011) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 14, 1943 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Carl Gustaf Ingvar and Caroline Peterson. Sandie was a 1961 graduate of Jamestown High School and received her degree in medical technology from Jamestown Business College in 1988. She worked as a private duty home care assistant for many years and as a nursing assistant at the former Jamestown General Hospital for seven years. In earlier years, she worked at CB Foods in South Dayton, NY where she met her husband of 37 years, Miguel A. "Mike" Laboy. Sandie was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where she served as secretary of the Women's Missionary Society and Bethany Women for Christ. She also was a youth sponsor for mission trips, including Project Sweat, and volunteered in the nurses office at Bethel Baptist Christian Academy. Her favorite times were those spent with her grandchildren. Sandie had a deep and abiding love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Surviving in addition to her husband are, three daughters, Terri E. Olsen, Victoria A. (Frank) Knapp, Lisa Laboy; a son, Robert H. Olsen Jr., all of Jamestown; ten grandchildren; two sisters, her twin, Donna R. Johnson of Sinclairville; Martha Morrill of Jamestown; and two brothers, James A. Peterson of Ollala, WA; and Robert A. Peterson of Jamestown. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Auston Morales; and a brother, John R. Peterson. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday June 6, 2011 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. James Read, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Charlotte Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
