Louie & I go back a long way to our days at SS Peter & Paul School. We were both in CYO activities & later on graduated from JHS in 1954. I really thought that he was a great guy. I am sorry that I was not able to chat with him at our Class of 1954 reunion some time ago. May God take you into His arms & may your soul rest in peace.
A long ago friend,

I am sorry to read of Lou's death. I met him during the time I worked for our St. James Church religious ed. dept. which networked with him. I will always remember him dramatically reciting the Gospel of Matthew by heart in the late 90's at a training retreat at Bellinger Hall, Chautauqua. I wish I had known him earlier, as many people here have written of how he impacted their lives as young people. May God reward him for his dedication to youth. God's Peace to his family. Sincerely, Linda

Rosemary, Chris and Rosemary,Undoubtedly, heaven has gained a beautiful angel in Lou. He made such a difference in my life as a teen and young adult. He was a good friend and a beautiful man from the inside out. I could always see God's reflection in him. Lou taught me to "be real" as I worked on the IMPACT retreat team with him. May your sadness be eased, knowing he's well and at peace in heaven. Love to you all~

I met Lou when I made Impact #114 at the Mindszenty in 1986. His reading of the Gospel of Matthew during the retreat changed my life and influenced me in becoming an English teacher. Lou's kindness, heart, drive and dedication will continue to 'impact' the lives of so many. Love you, Lou, and miss you.

We extend our sincerest condolences to Rosemary and family, and to sisters Theresa, Marie and Rosalie at the passing of Louis. It is obvious after reading the “candles” that Lou was highly respected and loved in the Jamestown community by the many who were fortunate enough to know him over his lifetime. He will surely be missed by all.

Rosemary - my heart goes out to you and your family. Lou had a very special place in my heart for many years. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met. I remember when he hired me - he said the only reason he hired me was because my name was
"Kathy" and that was one of the requirements for the job! We made many trips for CYO and it was great fun. My thoughts are with you all.

I was blessed to work with Lou in the mid 70s. The staff at the Youth Department of the Diocese of Buffalo was awesome. Lou was a notable mentor for me, a truly upstanding man, who loved his faith and loved the youth with whom he worked. His personality, work ethic, and leadership were a beautiful example to me. Thanks Lou.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Lombardo family at this difficult time. As former Chautauqua County Director of Catholic Charities, I was privileged to work with Lou for a short while. Always cheerful and helpful, he was a great collegue. I was also privileged to have worked with his wife many years ago and was blessed by her friendship. My heart goes out to her now.

The young Church has lost a friend and champion . . . but how gratifying to remember the thousands of young lives that Lou touched during his time with us on earth. I was blessed to work with Lou and know his passion for ministry - I am forever grateful that our lives intertwined, at least for a brief time. Prayers for Lou and his entire family - May God comfort you and may you know His presence with you each day.
