Obituary of Dorothy P. Larson
Dorothy P. Larson, 91, formerly of 121 W. Main, Mt. Jewett, PA, passed away Thursday June 9, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Laurie Kapuscinski in Jamestown, NY.
She was born August 28, 1919 in Mt. Jewett, the daughter of Hartley and Emma Winner Adair. On July 3, 1952, she married Arthur E. Larson in Sheffield, PA, who passed away June 28, 2007.
Dorothy graduated from Mt. Jewett High School in 1937. During WWII, she worked at Bell Aircraft in Buffalo, NY, after the war, she worked at Thompson & Co. Hardware in Mt. Jewett. She had been a member of the Mt. Jewett United Methodist Church; the Mineola Rebekah Lodge; VFW Auxiliary; and also worked at the former Lantz Corners Hotel. Dorothy was a supporter of Futures Rehabilitation, Inc. in Bradford, PA and the Special Olympics.
Dorothy loved cooking, reading, and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers. She was devoted to her family, always caring for everyone.
She is survived by a daughter, Laurie Kapuscinski of Jamestown, NY; two sons, Gregory (Peggy) Larson of Wilcox, PA; Thomas Larson of Jamestown. NY; three grandchildren, Abbi and Dana Kapuscinski, of Jamestown, NY; Colin Larson of Ridgway, PA; two great grandchildren, Brianna and Seth Larson of Ridgway, PA; two sisters, Phyllis Bills of Sheffield, PA; Winnie Edinger of Mt. Jewett, PA; and two brothers, William Adair of Edinboro, PA; and Robin Adair of Melbourne. FL.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Kennedy; two brothers, Richard and Donald Adair; and a nephew, Terry Edinger.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday June 14, 2011 in the Cummings Funeral Home, Mt. Jewett, PA with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mt. Jewett/Hazel Hurst United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Nebo Cemetery in Mt. Jewett.
