Obituary of Richard J. Peterson

Richard J. "Dick" Peterson, 86, formerly of 256 Clyde Ave Jamestown, died Thursday (June 9, 2011) in Evergreen Commons, East Greenbush, NY. He was born June 17, 1924 in Hornell, NY. Dick was a US Army veteran of WWII. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a clerk in the Jamestown Post Office, and was a member of First Lutheran Church. He was an avid gardener and was considered a champion card player by his wife who always said "goodnight champ" before bed. Surviving are two sons, Douglas Peterson of Obetz, OH; Wallace Peterson of Slingerlands, NY; a daughter, Holly Baucom of Bessemer City, NC; four grandchildren, Andrew, Diana, and Jennifer McCollough, Emily Peterson; two great grandchildren, David and DeAndrea Hinkle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Jones Peterson whom he married June 2, 1951 and who died March 28, 2006; a brother, William Peterson; and a sister, Phyllis Zdnowski. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
