Obituary of John Carl Goranson

John Carl Goranson, 48, of 116 Congress St. Bradford, PA, formerly of Jamestown, died unexpectedly Sunday (June 19, 2011) in his home. He was born November 22, 1962 in Jamestown the son of the late Nancy Boberg Goranson Lindahl. John was employed as Accounting Manager at American Refining Group in Bradford. He was a 1980 graduate of Jamestown High School; 1982 graduate of Jamestown Community College majoring in math and science; received his degree in Forestry from SUNY Brockport; and his Accounting Degree from the University of Buffalo. John did volunteer work in the Bradford area, and was always there to help people in need. He was very devoted to his mother and was loving Godfather to his niece Jenna Swanson. Surviving are his step father, Bruce Lindahl of Jamestown; three sisters, Janice E. (Timothy) Swanson; Carol Serven, both of Jamestown; Julie Quilliam; nieces and nephews, Jason, Nicholas, Jenna, Kelly, Christopher, and Benjamin; aunt and uncle, Linda and Richard Naum of CT; and his companion, Wendy. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Helmer and Dorothy Boberg. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Saturday June 25, 2011 in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Rev. Dan Nagle, pastor of First Lutheran Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 83 South Main St. Jamestown, NY 14701; or the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road Jamestown, NY 14701.
