Obituary of Janet E. Emerson

Janet E. Emerson, 76, of High Acres Bemus Point, passed away unexpectedly at 2:53 p.m. Wednesday (June 22, 2011) in her home. A lifelong area resident she was born August 11, 1934 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Clifford F. and Marian Lamkin Sharp. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School Class of 1952. Before her retirement she was employed by Tac Mac, Inc. of Lakewood, NY, working at the Fairmount Ave McDonalds Restaurant from 1971 - 2010. In earlier years she had worked at the former Art Metal, Inc. She was a member of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church where she loved being a greeter. She was a former member of the Mt. Sinai Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and a former member of the Kharamettes. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and sister. She loved to spend time with her family and was always attending her grandchildren's sporting events and special activities. She also loved to do crossword puzzles. Surviving are a daughter Cindy (Chip) Swanson, a son Scott Emerson both of Bemus Point, NY, a step-son Gregory A. (Joanna) Emerson of Sacramento, Ca, three grandchildren Kyle Swanson of Stow, NY, Jamie Swanson of West Seneca, NY, Nolan Emerson of Lakewood, NY, a step-grandson Sean Emerson of CA and two brothers Thomas C. (Sue) Sharp of Jamestown, NY, John W. (Darlene) Sharp of Spokane, WA. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Daniel E. Emerson whom she married August 14, 1954 and who died May 16, 1987 and by a brother Randall L. Sharp who died May 4, 2011. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Bemus Point United Methodist Church. The Rev. Daniel G. McBride, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Bemus Point United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4954 Bemus Point Ellery Rd.
