Obituary of Carmella M. Truce

Carmella M. "Aunt Carm" Truce, 95, of Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled nursing, formerly of West Ellicott, died Friday July 1, 2011, in WCA Hospital surrounded by her loved ones, nephew John and Niece JoAnn and their families. Carm was like a mother to them. She was born December 17, 1915, in Jamestown, a daughter of Frank and Josephine Ferrau Lipari, Sr. Graduating from Jamestown High School in 1934, she was actively involved in all class reunions. She graduated from Ethel Parker Beauty School in 1936. She was employed at Jessica Beauty Salon and by Modern Beauty Salon, which she took over in 1945. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society where she was active with the St. Joseph's Table for over 25 years. Her other memberships include Lakewood Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary, Elks Club Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and two card clubs. She was a former member of the Political Study Club and Falconer Lions Club Auxiliary serving as secretary and was a life member of Marco Polo Club, also serving as secretary. Golf was a long time hobby which she enjoyed by participating in the Forest Heights Monday Morning League and the Sunset Hill Senior Citizen League and was secretary for both. Surviving are nephews John (Joy) Hurst of Jamestown, David Lipari of Lakewood, Frank (Diane) Lipari of Florida, Gary Truce of Binghamton, Carl Truce of Florida, nieces JoAnn Grey of Jamestown, Carol (Bill) Smith of Ohio, Kathleen Oriolv of Ohio and Carol (Craig) Potwin of Bemus Point. Great nieces and nephews, Nicole (Dan) Nickerson, Courtney Grey, John Hurst III, Ryan Hurst and Cameron Hurst, a great-great nephew, Matthew Greenland, a great-great niece, Kayla Nickerson, all of Jamestown, and many other great nieces and nephews, all of whom she enjoyed and loved very much. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Truce, whom she married October 12, 1945 and who died May 12, 1985, a brother Frank Lipari, Jr. in 1992 and a sister Marguerite Hurst in 2003. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. James Catholic Church. Rev. Darrell G. Duffy will be celebrant. Entombment will be in holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. James Catholic Church, 27 Allen Street, Jamestown, NY 14701.
