Obituary of Josephine B. Crist

Josephine B. "Josie" Crist, 71, of 1546 Blockville-Watts Flats Road, Ashville and The Villages, Fla., died at 5:27 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011 in WCA Hospital. Josie was born July 28, 1939 in Corry, PA, the daughter of the late Stanley and Josephine Swiderski Bialczak. She graduated from Youngsville High School in 1957 and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She had been employed by the Jamestown and Meadville Telephone Companies, Firch Bakery and then for many years by Fairbank Farms. Following her retirement, Josie worked in the office of the Chautauqua Golf Club. A member of Panama United Methodist Church, she had in earlier years been active in 4-H. She was very involved in Special Olympics throughout the years, particularly roller skating and as a golf coach. Josie enjoyed the Evans Social Rollers, the Road Runners Bicycle Group and especially golfing at Chautauqua. She is survived by her husband, Bruce W. Crist, whom she married November 1, 1958; three children, Paul (Sally) Crist of Fredonia, Pamela Cole of Richmond, VA and Peter Crist of Ashville; and four grandchildren, Megan & MacKenzie Crist of Fredonia and Justin & Lexi Cole of Richmond. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Bialczak Jr. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Panama United Methodist Church. The Rev. Steven Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
