Obituary of Tessibel L. Erickson

Tessibel L. "Tessie" Erickson, 94, of 1420 Winch Rd. Lakewood, NY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 4:45 p.m. Friday (July 22, 2011) in W.C.A. Hospital. An area resident for most of her life she was born September 10, 1916 in Kalamazoo, MI a daughter of the late William A. and Myrtle Long. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and over the years had worked for the former Bigelows Department Store, Pearson's Market, and W.C.A. Hospital. She was a longtime active member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church where she was involved with the Hillcrester's Group, The Heart to Heart Bible Study, the Homebuilders Group, MOPS and WOW Group. She also really enjoyed her time with the Thursday Night Couples Club. She will be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved to entertain her family. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her pet dogs. Surviving are two sons David W. (Mary) Erickson of Lakewood, Randall W. Erickson with whom she made her home, two daughters Cindy (Dennis) Gleason of Ashville, Sharon L. (Bob) Gustafson of Bemus Point, six grandchildren Susan Schon of Pittsburgh, PA, Kathleen Edwards of Cinn. OH, Craig Gleason of Ashville, Jennifer Mossi of Bemus Point, Meghan Peterson of Greenville, SC, Britta Brown of West Ellicott and 13 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband J. Walter Erickson whom she married March 1, 1940 and who died August 23, 2008 and a brother Clifford Hamilton. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Hillcrest Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry McCann, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 40 Hallock St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
