Obituary of Thomas K. Smith
Thomas K. Smith, 76, of 4909 Kortwright Rd. Ashville, NY, passed away unexpectedly at 8:46 p.m. Friday (July 22, 2011) in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital.
An area resident for most of his life he was born May 14, 1935 in Warren, PA a son of the late E. Paul and Kathleen Kerr Smith.
Thomas was a graduate of the East Hickory, PA Township High School Class of 1953.
Before his retirement he was employed as a machinist for GTE Products Corporation of Warren, PA, where he worked from 1955 to 1993.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who loved nothing more than to spend his days working around his home and on the family farm. He loved spending time with his family and his beloved pet dogs. He enjoyed celebrating holiday's, especially Christmas, where he was known for his many Christmas decorations. In his spare time he enjoyed working on antique cars.
Surviving are his loving wife of 45 years, the former Marjory James whom he married February 14, 1966, a son Steve T. Smith and his wife Darcy of Sugar Grove, PA, two daughters Deborah Canaan (James Wood) of Port Charlotte, FL, Cynthia Snell of Sheffield, PA, two foster sons, Ronnie Noyes of Ashville, NY, Bill Hosak of Jamestown, NY, nine grandchildren Autumn Warner of Sarasota, FL, James Ecker of Port Charlotte, FL, Chad Smith, Tyler Smith both of Sugar Grove, PA, Jason Snell, Justin Snell, Jared Snell, Jeremy Snell, Tony Burt all of Sheffield, PA, eight great grandchildren and three sisters, Bonnalyn Smith, Bridget Smith both of Sugar Grove, PA, Ruth Smith Watson and her husband James of Middletown, MD.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother William R. Smith and an infant sister Beverly Smith.
The funeral will be held at noon Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Nancy Paige, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church, Sugar Grove will officiate. Burial will be on the family farm in the Town of Harmony.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday in the funeral home.
