Obituary of Daniel D. Butler
Daniel D. Butler, 57, of 140 Midgley Street, died unexpectedly Friday July 29, 2011, in his home.
An area resident all of his life, he was born December 27, 1953 in Jamestown, a son of Duane and Caryl Meehan Butler.
He was a 1973 graduate of Jamestown High School.
He served in the Naval Reserve. While serving he was assigned to an Amphibious Seabee Unit under the Department of Naval Affairs. He was a life member of Naval Enlisted Reserve Association.
He was employed for 34 years by the Jamestown Public School System retiring as head custodian. He earlier had worked for Electric Motors Service and McFadden Ford.
He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Ira Lou Spring Post #149 American Legion and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.
He was a proud Irishman who will be remembered as a very happy and generous person.
Surviving besides his parents of Jamestown are two brothers David W. Butler of Jamestown and Donald L. (Tabetha) Butler of Ashville and nieces and nephews DawnMarie Kaylor of Shreveport, LA, David Duane Butler of Jamestown, Michael Butler of Warren, PA and Peter and Molly Butler of Ashville.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Dennis W. Mende will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
