Obituary of Sonya Aldrich

Sonya Gustafson Aldrich, 87, of Celoron, N.Y. passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, in WCA Hospital. Born June 8, 1924 to Jennie and C. Emil Gustafson, who came to Jamestown from Sweden in 1920. Sonya was born at 192 Falconer Street, where her grandparents owned Anderson's Creamery. She graduated 3rd in her class from JHS in 1941, and was the secretary for the graduating class for many years. She had three children with Anthony Kosthorst (who she married on February 14, 1947). She is survived by her children, Steve (Vicki) Kosthorst of Jamestown, N.Y.; Michael Kosthorst of St. Petersburg, FL; and Sherri (Fran) Ricottilli of Gulfport, FL; four grandchildren, Michelle Kosthorst, Chris (Molly) Hammond, Aimee (Shane) Doney, and Andrew Strong. Also, five great grandchildren, Kailey and Kasey Hammond; Christina, Courtney, and Corey Andrews, as well as several nieces and nephews. Sonya worked several jobs in the area until she started in 1959 at the Medical Arts Building as secretary and sole office worker for Dr. Richard Lynn, a leading surgeon in the area at that time. They both retired in December, 1989. In 1983, Sonya married her second husband, C. Gordon Aldrich at a surprise wedding on the Chautauqua Belle. Gordon passed on December 6, 1999. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her only sibling, her brother, Ralph Gustafson. Sonya was a member of the Viking I.O.V. Lodge #65, and the Mission Covenant Church of Sugar Grove, PA. She has donated her body to science at the University of Buffalo so there will be no internment. Friends will be greeted at the Lind Funeral Home for a loving good-bye at a later date to be announced in order to allow her family time to make arrangements. No flowers please "I've enjoyed them while I was alive." Donations may be made to the Vikings I.O.V. Lodge #65 in Sonya's memory.
