Obituary of Donald G. Cooper

Donald G. Cooper, 81, formerly of 91 Pleasantview Dr. died Sunday July 31, 2011 in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. A native of Horseheads, NY, he was born November 2, 1929, a son of the late Hammond and Eva VanGorder Cooper. He was a 1948 graduate of Horseheads High School and attended Elmira College. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was employed by Pierce and Stevens Chemical Company, Buffalo working in industrial sales. He is a member of New Beginnings Fellowship. Following his retirement in Buffalo he had several volunteer ministries including calling on shut-ins and transporting people to doctor appointments. Surviving are his wife the former Carol Tice, whom he married September 24, 1950, four daughters Shari (John) Grice and Anne (John) Conti, both of Jamestown and Katie Vizine of Charlotte, NC and Kristin (William) Dehr of Daleville, VA; nine grandchildren Megan (Michael) Rohlin, Johnna, David, Joseph and Allie Grice, DJ Conti, Carly Vizine and Cooper and Lucas Dehr; a step grandson Andrew (Donnelle) Conti; two great grandchildren Lilyan Kates and Meridith Rohlin and a step great granddaughter Claire Conti. He was preceded in death by a sister June Hunter and a brother Clifford Cooper. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday August 27, 2011 in New Beginnings Fellowship, Stillwater. Pastor Aaron Bjork will officiate. Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received in fellowship hall of the church following the service.
