Obituary of Beverley M. Johnson
Beverley M. Johnson, 78, formerly of 4697 Gleason Rd. Ashville, NY and Shockley Heights, Altoona, FL, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Sunday (July 31, 2011) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong area resident she was born August 24, 1932 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Frank and Marie Lathrop Johnson.
She attended Jamestown Public Schools and was a graduate of Falconer Central School.
In earlier years she was an active Girl Scout leader for her daughters and was also the first female Den Mother for her son's while they were members of the Cub Scouts. She was also a member of the Panama Fire Department Auxiliary for several years and a past president of the Panama Parent Organization. While living in Florida she was past president of the Shockley Heights Women's Club and a member and past president of the Shockley Heights Quilter's Club, which made many quilts to raffle off for different charities. During the last several years at the Lutheran Home, she took great joy in participating in the Lutheran Home Chorus, Hand Bell Choir and the Intergenerational Music Camp.
Surviving are her three children, Ricky Johnson (Patricia Horn) of N. Branford, CT, Robert Johnson (Ruth Jenkins) of Orlando, FL, Tina (Todd) Pullan of Jamestown, five grandchildren Amy Kolstee of Binghamton, NY, Michael Kolstee of New York City, Nicholas (Nicole) Johnson of N. Branford, CT, Dr. Kristie (Dr. Robert) Pullan Chandler of Erie, PA, Andrew Pullan of Jamestown, two great grandchildren Nathan and Eric Johnson of N. Branford. She also had a close family friend Bill Reagan of Wichita Falls, TX and her very close personal friend who spent many hours with her these last few years Abbey Henshaw of Jamestown. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard G. Johnson whom she married September 15, 1950 and who died February 5, 2008, and her siblings, Beatrice Burch, Audrey Burch, Bonnie Crouch, Barbara Hayes, Deanie Hayes, Jerry Johnson and Carole Gloss.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry McCann, pastor of the Hillcrest Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Panama, NY.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
