Obituary of Gerald F. Scott

Gerald F. "Jerry" Scott, 84, of 2331 Fardink Rd. Ashville, NY passed away unexpectedly on Tuedsay (August 2, 2011) in the UPMC at Hamot, Erie, PA. A lifelong area resident he was born January 25, 1927 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Frank and Gertrude Sealy Scott. A 1945 Senior of the former Celoron High School, he completed his graduation in 1947 upon his discharge from the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of World War II serving with Troop A, 5th Calvary, 1st Calvary Division in the Japanese occupation in Tokyo and Okayama. Jerry was a member of the Sigma Gamma Phi Fraternity, the Antique Automobile Club Association, (local and national), Bemus Point Post #557 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Ingjald Lodge #65 Independent Order of the Vikings, and the Lakewood Memorial Post #1286 American Legion. He was an avid roller skater in his younger years, and will be remembered by his friends for his love of motorcycles and his enjoyment working with his antique cars and convertibles. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Williams Fabricating as a sheet metal worker and earlier by Coverall as a delivery driver. In interim years, Jerry was a self-employed carpenter, building several unique and beautiful homes in the area. He could fix almost anything and if he didn't know how to do it, he would teach himself a new skill. Jerry will be remembered for his happy nature by his many friends and relatives. Surviving are his wife the former Marsha Vance whom he married September 12, 1981, a son Michael J. Scott, a daughter Tina L. Scott both of Ashville, NY, grandson Derek Eggleston of Ashville, granddaughter Tanya Eggleston and great grandchildren Tyresse Thompson, Trayce Eggleston and Trysten Eggleston all of Jamestown, NY, his nieces and nephews Jody Petty of South Bend, IN, Jan Oakes of Erie, PA, Scott Bradish of Mayville, NY, Chris Bradish of Bemus Point, NY, Linda Lewis of Edgewood, MD, Keith Eggleston of Warren, PA. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Shirley S. Bradish who died April 6, 2002. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2011, in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville, NY. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
