Obituary of Virginia Turek
Virginia "Toni" Robbins Turek, 90, formerly of Chestnut St. Jamestown, NY passed away peacefully at 8:45 a.m. Saturday (August 6, 2011) at Millcreek Manor, Erie, PA.
Virginia was born on December 6, 1920 in Pittsburgh, PA a daughter of the late Howard Ellsworth and Nellie Rennie Robbins.
She graduated from Perry High School, Pittsburgh, PA and attended Monmouth College where she met her husband, Wesley J. Turek.
Virginia enjoyed being a Chautauqua County Election Inspector for many years. She tirelessly helped manage the family business, "The Yankee Doodle", in Fluvanna.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1960, where she loved to help organize the rummage sales. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School and also working at Hampshire Mills Clothing Store.
Music was Virginia's passion, especially listening to Frank Sinatra, Big Band and Classical music. Virginia's essence of intelligence, humor, kindness and pride in her Scottish heritage will forever live in her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, David J. (Patricia) Turek of Webster, NY, John W. Turek of Jamestown, two daughters, Janice T. VanEvery of LaCrosse, WI, Judith T. (David M.) Johnson of Dewittville, NY. She was a cherished grandmother of David (Courtney) Turek, Jr. of Conesus, NY, Wendy (Shawn) Barbero of Rochester, NY, Jennine Turek of Webster, NY, Richard VanEvery of Coronado, CA, Thomas VanEvery of Dallas, TX, and three great grandchildren Fallon, Olivia and Alaina.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wesley J. Turek whom she married April 10, 1943 in Chicago, IL and who died September 3, 1998.
Virginia and Wesley (December 11, 1919 - September 3, 1998) will be joined together for burial at a graveside service to be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011, at the Union Dale Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA. The Rev. Gaylord TenEyck will officiate. Visitation will not be observed.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd.
