Obituary of Arthur A. Rasmussen
Arthur A. Rasmussen, 69, of 178 Fairmount Ave Jamestown, died Friday September 9, 2011 in Millard Fillmore, Gates Hospital, Buffalo.
He was born May 9, 1942 in Jamestown the son of the late George A. and Florence Bentley Rasmussen.
Arthur served in the United States Marine Corp from 1959 until 1965, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
Prior to retirement, he worked at Leonard Construction. Earlier he worked for several shops, including Peterson Signs and Quality Trusses. He was a member of Eagles Lodge #2145; War Vets; Am Vets #726; and the Ira Lou Spring Post #149 American Legion. He enjoyed playing BINGO and going to the Casino.
In 1997, Arthur was awarded his High School Diploma at a ceremony at Chautauqua Institution after going back to school to finish his studies.
Surviving are a sister, Georgianne Gustafson; his companion of 48 years, Dorothy Fain; three stepchildren, Robert Fain, Calvin Fain, and Valerie Swanson; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold and Gerald Rasmussen.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert D. Lewis, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Falconer will officiate.
Burial with full military honors will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
