Obituary of Jean P. Lawson

Jean P. Lawson, 93, formerly of 989 Southwestern Drive, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Frewsburg Rest Home where she had resided for the past seven years. A lifelong area resident, she was born June 15, 1918 in Busti, a daughter of the late Harry and Ruth Whiting Anderson. Jean was a member of the Busti Federated Church, where she played piano and organ for more than 40 years. She will always be remembered for her devotion to all of her family. Surviving is a daughter, Priscilla (Michael) Oates of Canal Fulton, Ohio; five grandchildren: Christian Oakes of New York City, Adrien McGuire and Michael Oates III, both of Columbus, Ohio, Michael Lawson of Warren, PA and Laura Lawson of Jamestown, NY; three great-grandchildren, Thomas McGuire, J.T. McGuire and Mai Ly Campbell-Oates; and two sisters, Lora Proctor of Frewsburg, NY and Marjorie Daniels of Meadville, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Lawson whom she married June 22, 1939 and who died January 9, 1988; a son, James W. Lawson who died in 2005; a great-granddaughter, Heather Mundt who died in 2007; and three brothers, Richard, Harry Jr. and Wesley Anderson. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13th in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Jean's niece, will officiate. Burial will be in the Busti Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Busti Federated Church, Music Program, 875 Mill Road, Jamestown, NY 14701; or to a charity of choice.
