Obituary of Patricia Lou Johnson

Patricia Lou Johnson, 80, formerly of 1501 West 3rd St. Jamestown, died Friday September 16, 2011 at Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Williamsville, NY. A lifelong area resident, she was born February 24, 1931 in Jamestown, to the late Floyd L. and Mabel Spetz Starkweather. She was a 1949 graduate of Bemus Point High School. As a young girl, Pat worked summers at the Historic Hotel Lenhart. After a long career as an Actuary, Pat retired from Empire State Mutual Life Insurance Co. in 1986. Patricia was a member of First Covenant Church; the Vikings; Lakewood Rod and Gun Club; the Ivy Triangle; Jamestown Police Wives; and she volunteered with the Jamestown MOPS program. Surviving are two grandchildren, Elizabeth Erick (Nicholas) Ingold of Williamsville, NY; Stephen Erick of Falls Church, VA; a son in law, Douglas (Barbara) Erick of Dunkirk, NY; three step grandchildren, Gretchen (Scott) Moore of Nixa, MO; Julianne (Rick) Valone of Cassadaga; Daniel N. Carr of Fredonia; and two great granddaughters, Anna Valone and Sarah Moore. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. "Sprocket" Johnson whom she married March 12, 1950 and who died February 4, 1989; her daughter, Linda Marie Erick; her sister, Shirley Schrader; and her brother, Duane Starkweather. A graveside service will be held Monday September 19, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Bemus Point Cemetery. The Rev. Adam Rohler, pastor of First Covenant Church will officiate.
