Obituary of Charles W. Crossley, Jr.
Charles W. Crossley, 74, of 28 Liberty Street, Bemus Point, died Tuesday October 11, 2011, in his home.
He was born August 22, 1937, in Jamestown, a son of the late Charles and Hazel Lord Crossley, Sr.
He was a 1955 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and served in the US Navy from 1956-63.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Bush Industries as a factory worker and earlier had worked for Barmore-Sellstrom as a salesman.
He was a member of Randolph VFW and American Legion and War Vets Recreation. His other membership includes Moose Lodge in Westfield where he had been past governor and pilgrim. He was a leader of the Bemus Point Boy Scouts of America, serving as treasurer.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. He loved the time he spent with his grandkids.
Surviving are his wife, the former Kay Carr, whom he married May 5, 1962, five children Charles Crossley III of Bemus Point, William (Charity) Crossley of Jamestown, Gerald Smyczek of Bemus Point and Michelle Smyczek and Brian Smyczek, both of Jamestown; six grandchildren Lucas Smyczek, James Eastham, Nicholas Crossley, Alexis Crossley, Makenzee Smyczek and Lil' Will Crossley; a brother David (Rose) Crossley of Jamestown and a sister Linda (Dennis) Barmore of Gerry.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel G. McBride will officiate.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
