Obituary of Margaret P. Ireland
Margaret P. Ireland, 83, of 10 Rock Hill Rd. Panama, passed away at 7:18 a.m. Saturday (October 15, 2011) in W.C.A. Hospital.
A lifelong area resident she was born June 23, 1928 in Bear Lake, PA a daughter of the late Alec and Ruth Chandler Perkins.
She was a graduate of the Panama Central School Class of 1946 and attended Jamestown Business College.
Before her retirement in 1993, she was employed by the Panama Central School as Secretary to the High School Principal for 21 years. Prior to that, she was Secretary to the Chief Engineer at Jamestown Metal Corporation for 13 years.
She was a member of the Panama United Methodist Church for over 55 years.
Surviving are four sons: John R. (Donna) Ireland of Jamestown, Jack D. (Keith) Ireland of Youngstown, OH, Jerrold W. (Pamala) Ireland, Jeffrey J. (Brenda) Ireland, a daughter Ann M. (Shawn) Schnars all of Panama, eleven grandchildren: Alicia Smith of Sumter, SC, Michael Ireland of Los Angeles, CA, Jessica Keefer, Erica Ireland both of Jamestown, Jamie Ireland of Grand Island, NY, Erin Miller of Black Lick, OH, Greg Ireland, J. Bryce Ireland, Devin Ireland, Kylie Schnars, Donovan Schnars all of Panama, six great grandchildren: Mel Eggleston, Cameryn Eggleston, Chase Hartnett, Aiden Keefer all of Jamestown, Corinne Ireland of Grand Island, Liam Smith of Sumter, SC, a sister Jane Nagel of Panama and two sister in laws: Vivian Perkins of Conneaut Lake, PA, Norrine Perkins of Charlottesville, VA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jarvis E. Ireland whom she married March 27, 1948 and who died February 27, 2003, three brothers Leo Perkins who was killed during World War II in 1944, Marvin Perkins who died in 2002, Alec Perkins, Jr. who died in 2006, a sister Martha Ann Zouck who died in 2005 and a granddaughter Bethany Ireland who died in 1976.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the Panama United Methodist Church. The Rev. Steven Taylor, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Panama Union Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
