Obituary of Marie H. Letten

Marie H. Letten, 92, formerly of 904 North Main St. Jamestown, died at 11:20 PM Sunday (October 16, 2011) in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born July 2, 1919 in Brocton, NY the daughter of the late Ralph and Mabel Graff Clark. Marie had worked at the Seven-Up Bottling plant in Jamestown and for many years served as custodian at the Grace United Methodist Church where she was an active member, teaching Sunday School and Bible School. She later attended Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Sharon (Norman) Arthur of Ashville, NY; Cynthia (William) Oldham of Tucson, AZ; Melinda (Jeffery) Tayman of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a half brother, Earl J. (Naomi) Inwood of West Ellicott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, Earl D. Inwood; her husband, Carl O. Letten whom she married July 24, 1937 and who died November 27, 1983; a granddaughter, Michelle Webb; a grandson, Matthew Arthur; three sisters, Genevieve McAlpine, Mildred Near, Elizabeth Sandwall; and a brother, Walter Clark. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Roy Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Thursday in the funeral home.
