Obituary of Karen A. Knapp

Karen Conti Knapp, 58, of Westfield, NY formerly of Bangor, ME, passed away peacefully Saturday October 15, 2011 in her home. She was born January 14, 1953 in Silver Creek, NY the daughter of the late Anthony F. "Tony" and Pauline Fricano Conti. Karen was a 1971 graduate of Jamestown High School and recently retired from Kwik Fill in Mayville where she worked for many years. She was a devoted wife for 25 years who possessed a loving, kind, and gentle spirit. Karen loved her family and her animals, especially her two dogs. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts and was known for her sock monkeys. Surviving are a brother, Anthony G. "Jerry" (Kathi) Conti of Jamestown; three sisters, Elizabeth "Beth" Carroll of NC; Patricia Baird of Erie, PA; Judith "Judy" (Bob) Gustafson of Jamestown; and several loved nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. "Bob" Knapp whom she married February 1, 1986 and who died May 17, 2011; and a brother in law, Bill Carroll. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer, pastor of Fluvanna Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
