Obituary of Robert Clair Bennett

Robert Clair "Bob" Bennett of Jamestown, who would have celebrated his 82nd birthday on November 8th, passed away Thursday October 27, 2011 at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, NY. He was born November 8, 1929 in Blairsville, PA. Bob retired from Proto Tool and Blackstone-Valeo in Jamestown where he worked as a machinist. An avid outdoorsman, Bob loved to hunt, fish, and take long walks in the woods. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandsons. Bob also read extensively, with a particular interest in the Civil War. Bob is survived by his wife Betty. They would have celebrated their 61st anniversary this November; daughter Cheryl (Joe) Mattern of Newark, Delaware; son David (Becki) Bennett of Kalispell, Montana; daughter Susan (Lowell) Wilcox of Randolph, New York; grandchildren, Daniel and Jarrett Myers of Framingham, Mass; Brian Myers of Kernersville, NC; Brooke (Keith) Gallagher of Montana; Bryce Bennett of Montana; and two great grandchildren, Matthew and Natalie Gallagher of Montana. At Bob's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service observed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, 6725 Lyons St. PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lind Funeral Home.
